Hard Working Class Heroes | Dublin | September 27-29
Hard Working Class Heroes (HWCH) is Ireland’s annual music showcase and conference, and the festival for discovering your new favourite artists. Every year we bring the global music industry to Ireland to showcase new and emerging Irish music in some of Dublin’s best live music venues.
As well as the live showcase gigs in The Workman’s Club, The Grand Social, Yamamori Tengu (upstairs in Kaizen Bar), Tramline, and Doyle’s on September 28th and 29th, we’ll also be hosting the HWCH Music Conference from September 27th-29th in The Chocolate Factory, which will feature networking sessions, panels, & workshops where we will discuss, debate, and delve deep into the topics that matter most to musicians.
The HWCH Music Conference is Ireland’s largest gathering of bookers, labels, agents, managers, music supervisors, booking agents, radio folk, and journalists from around the world and here at home. The development and progression of the HWCH Music Conference over the last few years has earned the festival the local and international reputation for being a must-attend event for anyone working in music in Europe.
Hard Working Class Heroes began with 40 Dublin bands playing in a single venue in the Dublin in 2003. Like all start-ups, it was rough around the edges, but there was heart and soul and the very best of intentions. Since that debut, HWCH has grown and developed into a much bigger and more wide-ranging event now incorporating a 3-day music conference but with live music still being HWCH’s chief attraction. HWCH is an event with a proven pedigree when it comes to showcasing new and exciting talent. The key difference is that the international music industry come to HWCH to find new Irish acts only.
How do I/we get to play it?
Applications to perform at Hard Working Class Heroes 2018 are now closed.
Who selects the bands?
Our panel of 35 national and international judges who are hand picked from across the
global music industry. The judges include bookers from international showcases, labels,
media, publishers, agents, and many more. This year HWCH staff will also be on the
lookout for acts and will have input to the final line up.
How is it judged?
The judging criteria is split into 4 categories:
– Songwriting ability
– Quality of songs
– Quality of recording
– Gut feeling
The highest rated bands from each judge go forward to make up the final line-up.
When will tickets go on sale?
Tickets are now on sale from Eventbrite.
Where is the wristband exchange located?
You will be able to exchange your ticket for a wristband at our box office located at 9 Wellington Quay.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Yes, the night-time showcase gigs are over 18 but the music conference is open to all ages.
When will the day-by-day schedule be announced?
The day-by-day schedule will be announced in early September.
