ADAM LEWIS / Co-Owner of Planetary Group. Spearheading an artist development and promotions firm based out of Boston and LA that focuses on helping new and upcoming artists be heard and discovered, over the past year or so Adam has worked with such acts as The Decemberists, Bloc Party, Peter, Bjorn & John, Apples In Stereo, Kings Of Leon, The Jezabels and The Lemonheads. In addition Adam also currently handles all publicity, promotion and media buying for Great Northeast Productions. Great Northeast is responsible for producing 50 shows a year throughout New England, including Phish’s millennium concert in Florida and the annual Snoe.down Festival at Lake Placid. Prior to Planetary, Adam was the Northeast Sales and Promotion Manager for TVT Records, working with Sevendust, Guided By Voices, The Black Crowes and Snoop Dogg. Adam’s latest projects are spearheading tours to China, India, and Singapore for Independent artists. Adam is always looking for great new bands. ANDY MCLEAN / NXNE Co-Founder & Managing DirectorAndy McLean brought NXNE into being in 1994, and since then has closely guided the festival’s growth and development as a marquis music, film, and interactive media event. His pre-NXNE experience includes a stint as an industry executive promoting independent music within Canada and around the world; before that, he was a key member of Canadian rock bands The Tenants and Double Dare. When not neck-deep in NXNE business, Andy still finds time to write, record, and perform with his singer-songwriter wife Linda McLean’s band – and to re-enact the triumphs of his beloved Manchester United on soccer pitches around Ontario. BJORN PFARR / Head Of Music Programme, Reeperbahn Festival, Hamburg. The Reeperbahn Festival is a club festival unique all over Europe. On the last weekend of every September dozens of new international bands meet an enthusiastic audience in Germany‘s music metropolis Hamburg. Visitors not only enjoy the exciting festival programme, but also the matchless setting: the Reeperbahn – world famous, atmospherically dense and lined with countless cutting-edge music clubs. Since 2006 Reeperbahn Festival Music regularly sends Hamburg‘s Reeperbahn into raptures staging spectacular live music events. For three nights more than 190 bands and solo artists play in about 30 clubs, bars and theatres which are all in walking distance. Reeperbahn Festival also offers a rich and ambitious ARTS programme consisting of comics, film, Flatstock art, photography, street art, fine arts and literature. The Campus part of the festival features panels, matchmakings and receptions as well as some special formats like Club International (for live music venues), ABC-Day (for newbies) and Ray’s Reeperbahn venue with MTV legend Ray Cokes. BRENT GRULKE / Creative Director at SXSW began his career there overseeing panels and all aspects of the music festival. Under his tenure, South by Southwest has produced several regional events modeled on SXSW including the Mississippi River Music Festival in St Louis, and North by Northwest in Portland, Oregon. SXSW is also affiliated with North by Northeast in Toronto. South by Southwest, currently entering its 26th season, is a ten-day event, the largest of its type in North America with over 2000 acts from 65 nations performing on more than 90 stages to more than 20,000 industry registrants and countless fans. SXSW also features a renowned film festival and conference and an influential interactive conference celebrating the creativity of new media technologies. CATHY PELLOW / is the owner of Sargent House an artist management and record label music group. CLIVE GARDINER / has worked as SVP, Digital Music at we7 since it began 4 years ago, in which time he has licensed a catalogue of more 8 million songs from majors, distributors, indies and directly from artists. we7 continues to learn from and adapt to its 3 million unique monthly users, and has just revised its website to focus on delivering personal radio for the mainstream music lover. “we7 is your very own personal DJ who creates radio stations just for you.” Clive’s career has centred on how new technology is changing consumer behaviour in entertainment media with several senior roles in business development, marketing and management. In his 9 years at BMG Music International he devised music marketing campaigns which brought multi-platinum regional successes and set industry sales records. In Indonesia, Clive sold more Westlife albums than anywhere else in the world !! In a past life he was a musician and songwriter signed to indie labels, a DJ and a video producer. DARREN HEMMINGS / As Head of Digital Marketing for the PIAS Entertainment Group, Darren oversees the online strategic campaign planning for all artist campaigns across PIAS’s label and label services repertoire. Last year his digital campaign for Dan le Sac VS Scroobius Pip was nominated for the BT Digital Awards “Artist of the Year” category alongside Muse, Pendulum and Gorillaz and Kylie Minogue. He is currently working on a diverse array of campaigns covering Enter Shikari, Frank Turner, Gruff Rhys, Liz Green, We Are Scientists and more. DAVID ADAMS / Working as Music and Content Relations for SoundCloud for over the past year, David Adams has seen SoundCloud grow to a platform with over 7 Million audio creators. Users include labels such as Domino and Universal, to artists such as The Beatles, Foo Fighters and Moby, to TV shows like American Idol and The Voice. SoundCloud is an audio platform that enables anyone to upload, record, promote and share their originally-created sounds across the internet, in a simple, accessible and feature-rich way. From sample to symphony and soundbite to soliloquy, SoundCloud allows sound creators anywhere to instantly record audio on the site or via mobile applications and share them publicly or privately; to embed sound across websites, social networks and blogs and receive feedback from the community’ DEV SHERLOCK / The Hype Machine . Dev is part of the elite team at The Hype Machine, one of the world’s most influential music sites, where he works closely with artists and music bloggers, and is also host/co-producer of Hype Machine Radio.His career spans both traditional and new media. He served as an editor at Musician Magazine, a programming exec for Clear Channel Radio, and co-founder of a digital media start-up before teaming with The Hype Machine in 2009. Also a widely-published music journalist, his writing has appeared in Rolling Stone, Q, Billboard, The Word, NME, Time Out, Details and The Rolling Stone Album Guide. JASON EDWARDS / began his career in music before he left school as a contributing writer at Artrocker magazine and ThisIsFakeDIY. He then moved to OneRecords as their in-house press officer whilst simultaneously establishing a regular club night at Glasgow’s School of Art. Now a booking agent at 13 Artists (a boutique agency in Brighton representing Radiohead, The Arctic Monkeys, Interpol and more) since August 2010, Jason looks after a roster of artists including Factory Floor, Salem, Oh Land, Errors, Aidan Moffat, D/R/U/G/S, Blood Orange and Dutch Uncles. JOSH DALTON is the youngest of the Crack In The Road team, yet has over six years experience in the music industry. He set up the site while at University in Scotland studying Architecture. Although initially conceived as a blog, the website grew beyond initial expectations, and now has 15 writers based all around the UK. After being invited to provide official coverage and interviews at numerous festivals in Europe, CitR was chosen to form part of the Glastonbury Emerging Talent 2011 competition panel, choosing the opening acts at the festival. He has also worked for several UK music festivals, providing music media support, as well as working closely with numerous PR company’s through CitR. CitR is now one of the largest independent websites of it’s kind in the UK, and has a growing influence in America. A strong supporter of free music online, he believes that the power of the internet in modern music is not to be underestimated. LAURA WEBB / started out in the music supervision world by working with esteemed music supervisor, Laura Wasserman. During her time as a music coordinator, she worked on films such as SHARK TALE, A LOT LIKE LOVE, XXX2: STATE OF THE UNION, 500 DAYS OF SUMMER, MTV’S THE HILLS. Laura has been the music supervisor on various television shows and movies such as: THE CITY, TAKING THE STAGE, HOW’S YOUR NEWS. She is currently music supervising MTV’s WORLD OF JENKS, TEEN WOLF as well as two indie films HIGHLAND PARK & SAVE THE DATE. LISA PAULON / Organiser – The Camden Crawl, Managing Director – Traffic Marketing. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Lisa Paulon relocated to London in 1991 after launching her career in PR and Marketing for esteemed independent record labels Wax Trax in Chicago and Caroline in New York. In London, she set up the Sub Pop Records European headquarters and spent several years developing the label’s international repertoire, before leaving to joining Polydor/Universal in 1997. Working in artist development and marketing, she played a crucial role in launching such artists as Queens Of The Stone Age, Ian Brown and The Cardigans in the UK. In 2001, Lisa left to set up Traffic, an independent marketing consultancy specialising in street marketing and fanbase development. Originally a side project in the mid-nineties, 2005 saw the re-launch of Lisa’s Camden Crawl festival. The annual one-ticket, multi-venue event which brings more than 1250 new UK and International artists to Camden Town over May Bank Holiday weekend now boasts more than 25,000 punters and 50 venues. LIZZY NEWTON / is a Music Festival Booker at South By Southwest (SXSW). Now in its 26th year, SXSW is one of the largest, most influential, and most anticipated music events of the year. SXSW 2011 saw over 16,000 music industry professionals – including nearly 3,000 media members – attend panels, industry discussions, trade show exhibits, and an expanded six nights of music performed by just over 2,000 acts representing 57 countries, performing at over 90 venues in downtown Austin, Texas. MATT MCDONALD / CMJ Network Matt’s primary focus is on programming artist showcases at the CMJ Music Marathon. Now in its 31st year, the Marathon attracts more than 1300 artists and 100,000 music fans from around the world to NYC every fall and will take place this year October 18-22. In addition, Matt oversees various events, tours, and music licensing initiatives at CMJ throughout the year, with a primary focus on up-and-coming acts. Prior to joining CMJ in 2005, he was a talent buyer at a handful of New York clubs. NATASHA HADDAD / The Great Escape / Mean Fiddler – Promoter. Natasha works for MAMA Group across various divisions within the company as a promoter booking tours, stand alone shows and media and brand partnership events. Core to her role is booking the Great Escape Festival, which in just 6 years has established itself both as the leading event in Europe for showcasing new talent from around the world, and as one of the most exciting events on the festival and convention calendar. NATHANIEL GRAVELY / is the co-founder of successful independent music blog I Guess I’m Floating and, more recently, Small Plates Records. Started over Soulseek conversations about Elliott Smith in 2005, IGIF is concerned with one thing: serving great new music to unsuspecting masses.
