Hard Working Class Heroes 2014 Line-up announced, here’s the A-Y!

We’re excited to announce the Hard Working Class Heroes line-up for 2014. More than 500 bands applied to be part of the showcase and festival this year and we’ve selected the top 104 who will play across seven Dublin venues between 2-4 October. Here’s the A-Y!

A

A Lazarus Soul
A Lazarus Soul will release their fourth album and “state of the nation address”, Last of the Analogue Age in September. Recorded by Joe Chester and also features a track co-produced by the legendary Lee Scratch Perry. They debuted the Midday Class, in the Abbey Theatre this year, to a rapturous reception. Acrobat
Acrobat is a Dublin-based band formed in 2013. Their debut EP “Follow You Down” was recorded by Rob Kirwan (Hozier, Delorentos) and released in April. Affleck
Affleck are Aidan, Clark, James and Steven. They play violin, guitar, bass, drums and whatever electronic synths they can find. Arborist
Based out of Belfast and surrounded by a band of well-travelled musicians, Arborist’s music is measured and mature while remaining starkly modern. Centred around McCambridge’s soaring vocal and unique lyrical style, it speaks of bleak truths (Cohen, Callahan, Molina) but delivers them with an assured soulfulness (Sam Cooke, Al Green). Atriums

Benihana

Benny Smiles
Benny Smiles released his debut EP “Sunshine/Moonlight” in 2012. The first single “Moonlight (feat Niamh Farrell)” earned critical acclaim and kickstarted his career as a producer and performer. Brian Casey
Brian casey is a Cork songwriter influenced equally by contemporary artists like Elliott Smith, Laura Marling, Damien Rice and Feist as he is by the beatles and folk/blues giants of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Buffalo Sunn

Buffalo Woman

Carriages
Carriages are Harry Bookless and Aaron Page. Carried By Waves
‘Carried By Waves’ is an experimental, organic/electro project which began in 2011. Cfit
Cfit began in bedrooms, as a side project evolved into a lush collection of woozy, bruised, melancholy anthems. Ciaran Lavery

Cloud Castle Lake

Clu
Inspired by 1980’s science fiction films, contemporary dance and 8bit computer games, Clu was originally created by Sean and Kevin as a way to play music and vj to their friends in Nightclubs around Dublin. Codai

Color // Sound
With influences ranging from Elliott Smith to Explosions In The Sky, this band draw inspiration from all genres and combines them, creating their own explosive sound. Columbia Mills

Conor Walsh
Conor is a minimalist piano and electro acoustic composer from County Mayo. Contour
Conan Wynne and Anna Doran are Contour, an electronic duo from Dublin. The band have been making passionate, twisted, robotic soul music since 2013. DVOMarvell, up and coming rapper/songwriter from Dublin, mainly known for opening up for Lil wayne at the O2 Arena in Dublin. Hags

Hare Squead

Sisters
A Limerick three piece, Andrew, Aoife and Niall have been siblings since early 2013. Subplots
Subplots formed in 2007 and released their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Nightcycles’ in 2009.
